Criteria for Admission

  • For admission in the next class, the student must produce a "Result Sheet" of the previous class, particularly from the Wifaaq- ul- Madaaris- il-Arabiyyah together with an attendance certificate.
  • The Jamiah pays full attention to the education of the students. Hence, it is in their own interest that they should abide by the rules and regulations mentioned ahead in this brochure.
  • It is a basic condition that the student must hold correct beliefs about Islam as well as love for following the sunnah as well as following the worthy predecessors – both in thoughts and deeds.
  • A student should be at least ten years old for admission to the initial regular class while young students below this age are eligible for admission to the "Hifz" classes.
  • Students who have cleared school at the middle or matriculation level will be allowed to appear for admission tests to "Darajah Ulaa" (Arabic level One) subject to the production of their school certificate.
  • Students who had not studied anywhere else but had come to the Madrasah for the first time would, at first, go through the course of Wifaaq- ul- Madaaris- il-Arbiyyah up to the Middle level, called Mutawassat or I′daadiyyah.
    Method of admission
The candidate will have to appear for an examination of the previous class for admission to the next class he intends to seek. It should be borne in mind that the success in the examination does not guarantee an immediate admission. The examination is a mere process to judge his educational aptitudes. The most important points for consideration for the Jamiah are his mental outlook and his inclination towards acquiring knowledge. The main reason for this is to ensure that his mind is not pre-occupied in non-scholarly pursuits.

The method of admission is subject to changes according to needs of the time, but generally it is along these lines:

A student has to pass through three stages for admission test and examination, which is as follows:
  • The student is first examined orally for his aptitude in Naazirah Qur′an, Salaah and supplications. The application for admission of a successful candidate is thereafter processed for the next stage of the admission test.
  • A written test is held for those students who were successful in the first stage for the desired class.
  • Those who get through the written test are tried in the third stage for viva voce in which they are either examined on all or selected books of the previous class.
The student, who gets through the final stage, gets an admission form. After the official procedure for confirming his admission, he is issued an "Admit Card". His name is enrolled in the register of admitted students.

It must be remembered that admission to the Jamiah and its branches is done at the Jamiah only.

Study hours

The hours of studies for students of regular classes are four in the morning and two after Zuhr. A break is allowed in between for lunch, rest and prayers. The classes for hifz are also held between Magrib and Isha apart from these hours. Besides, students of regular classes have to revise and study their lessons between Maghrib to 10.30 PM under the supervision of their respective teachers; whereas, the studying hours for the Middle classes and the Girls section are from 8 to 1 o'clock in the afternoon.

The Academic Year and Holidays

The duration of academic year is about ten months. It begins on 15th Shawwal and ends early Shaban. The annual vacation is for two months. On the occasion of Eid-ul-Adhaa, there is a vacation for ten days, too. However, the weekly holiday is on Friday.

Student Welfare and Grants

Education in all departments of the Jamiah is free. There are no charges for any student for education, boarding or for other purposes. Even the books are lent out to students. Needy students are offered scholarships. Meals, medical facilities and other necessities of life are also provided free of charge. Allaah makes it possible through His Benevolence and through the cooperation of His pious slaves.

The Boarding Houses

Along with education of the students, special attention is paid towards their moral and religious grooming. To achieve this, it is necessary that they pass their twenty-four hours in the environment of the Jamiah. This is why the Jamiah and its branches have provided boarding houses and a separate building for foreign student at the Jamiah, too. These buildings have facilities like electricity, water, gas stoves, boilers, fans, water coolers and other basic needs. There are separate kitchens and dinning halls too for foreign and local students, where they eat together.

Teachers are appointed to look after and supervise students in the boarding houses at times apart from their studies. They ensure that they are all present at night and would verify it at any time of the night. They awake them for the Fajr and Zuhr prayers. Usually, the students take a nap before Zuhr. In case if any student who falls ill, they will arrange for his immediate treatment without fail.

The boarding houses open and close on fixed times. Likewise, proper arrangements have been made to keep them clean and tidy, which are overseen by the supervisors of the boarding houses.

There are many students who live locally in Karachi. They stay at the Jamiah during the hours of their studies and revision. Thereafter they return to their homes.
